What to Do When Your Router Has No Internet
Is your Wi-Fi connected but no internet? Don’t worry — follow these steps to fix it.
1. Restart your router
- Unplug your router from power.
- Wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Wait 2–3 minutes for the internet light to turn on.
2. Check if other devices have internet
- Try another phone, laptop or tablet on the same network.
- If other devices work, restart the one having the issue.
3. Check your internet plan
- Confirm your ISP isn’t reporting any outages in your area.
- If your bill is unpaid, your internet may have been suspended.
4. Check cables and connections
- Check if the WAN light is on on your router.
- If the WAN light isn’t on, make sure the internet cable is securely plugged into the router’s WAN (Internet) port.
5. Check if your router has reset
- Check if you can still see your usual Wi-Fi name.
- If not, check that your router is powered on.
- If you see a different Wi-Fi name — like a default router name — your router has reset. Contact your internet provider for reconfiguration.
6. Call your ISP for help
If none of these steps work, your Internet Service Provider may have a problem on their end. Give them a call.
Following these steps can solve most internet issues.
